Description
These two Giant Saguaro cacti standing tall in Sabino Canyon are great representations of the state flower of Arizona. Saguaros (pronounced sah-wah-ro) have been known to grow to between 50 and 80 feet. Saguaros are known for their long arms, often twisting into odd shapes. Though many are killed or injured during lightning strikes, the oldest plants are estimated to be 150 to 200 years old. Quite often they flower twice a year, in late spring and again in late summer.
